Un mundo neblinoso y cambiante, lleno de seres terribles, amigos y enemigos. Comparten el idioma de lo salvaje. La luna cómplice de la muerte nocturna, el sol cuya mano es besada por el viento de largos cabellos y músculos estriados. El viento, bestia afable. El fuego, porque ve donde se esconde la vida, las cuevas lo cobijan del odio y en los hombres ha hallado quien calme a su imparable. Los grandes árboles del bosque más que oscuro y las hierbas que esconden agazapadas, adormiladas, fieras. Y la bruma hace lo que la bruma hace y lava a su paso los recuerdos del día caluroso. Cuando bate su piel eleva un mundo distinto, más blanco, más oscuro y más seguro. 
En medio de esas tierras que apenas se dejan ver hay un cazador con fuerza de ingenio. Asesta su palabra afilada de largo tallo, de tallo tan largo que es inimaginable para otros predadores. Su flecha se enrolla como una enfermedad que miente al cuerpo sobre  el salvaje movimiento de los salvajes, su trampa es invisible y sube al cielo, está tan lejana allá donde la niebla confunde tu nido con el del enemigo. 
Bestias poderosas dedicadas a su propia carroña, a sus mismos cálidos charcos pactan con su violento impulso empujadas por el miedo del mundo. La habilidad de los reflejos de sus patas  impensablemente sagaces caen en lo sabroso a un precio siniestro. Sólo el que anda por donde quiere mira con desconfianza al aún más sagaz cazador, el que caza con ingenio. 
El gato, el que escucha en silencio y ronronea a lo tenebroso del bosque más que negro, lee en el Libro Rojo al caballo, a la vaca, al perro y al macho humano. La hembra humana desde sus cabellos enredados como cadenas suplanta el flujo de lo salvaje en los corazones de sus presas salidas de lo salvaje. Sabe hablar a lo que es imposible engañar, el estímulo de la respuesta, y en terrible conversación crea ilusiones a las fieras pues ella  ha aprendido el idioma con que hablan el sol y la luna y el viento y el fuego, que es más antiguo aún que el de lo salvaje.
